We believe that responsible dog obedience training is the key to a healthy relationship with your dog.


RDOC’s inclement weather policy is to close if the Richmond City Schools are closed. If in doubt whether your class will meet call your instructor or call (804)278-9032 and listen to the voice message.

RDOC will hold run thrus at our club building from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the following dates:  October 16, November 19, and December 4, 2016.  Run thrus will be held on a first come first serve basis. Participant’s names will be placed on a white board as they pay and the runs will be as they appear on the board, whatever the person needs, no Rally. Fees are $8 1st run, $7 for 2nd run of same dog in a given class (Beg. Nov, Nov. Open, Utility, etc.).  Go to for directions.

RDOC will hold an AKC obedience trial at our club on December 10, 2016, offering Beginner Novice, Novice, Open and Utility classes. Please see premium for further information.

RDOC will also hold an AKC trial (at our club) on February 18, 2017, for Beginner Novice, Novice, and all Rally levels (no teams).

RDOC Dog Obedience Club is an all volunteer organization dedicated to improving the relationship between pets and people by teaching responsible dog ownership and obedience classes. We are the only dog obedience organization in Richmond area granted a license by the American Kennel Club to hold obedience trials. Founded in 1959, the club has an excellent national reputation for outstanding training. Our program offers positive, humane techniques and discourages harsh methods. Many of our club members have won awards in local, national, and international competitions. We welcome our trainees to join our club. Besides offering classes, we perform obedience demonstrations for community groups, nursing homes, and schools.  Other club activities include: tattoo clinics, agility trials, obedience trials, rally trials, seminars and Canine Good Citizenship Tests. Our meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month, and we welcome visitors.
